i think about adopting one

First of all, It’s great that you’re thinking about getting a dog; however, it will not be ok to leave a puppy of any breed at home by him or herself for that amount of time. Puppies need to go to the bathroom every couple hours. They need lots of attention and socialization with different people, other animals, household sounds and outdoor noises. It would be very irresponsible to purchase or adopt a dog if you could not be with it during the day even a few minutes of every hour or so, until the puppy is atleast 3 or 4 months old. The more time you’re able to spend with your dog while they’re young, the better. It’s like having a young child.

As far as breeds, the Italian Greyhound would be an absolute no for an apartment. I have a Pug so I’m a bit biased, but my boyfriend and I were in an apartment for the first few months we had him, and it’s no problem. Pugs do not need a lot of exercise, BUT they are people dogs. They are bred as lap dogs, so they definitely have huge seperation issues if you leave them at home alone too much. They are amazing dogs though to have. They’re small enough you can basically take them everywhere, and they’re so lovable. They love people and they’re very good natured. Buying a Pug was the best decision I’ve made. As with any pure breeds, they can have health problems.

Pugs will range in price around $500-$700 with papers. If they’re too much cheaper than that, you should investigate the breeder.

In any case, please think long and hard about whether you’re in the right situation to own a dog right now. There are so many dogs that are turned over to the pound because their owners didn’t have enough time to spend with them. It’s seriously like having a kid for the first few months so be prepared.
