Akitas are pretty independent dogs. Pack dominance, however, is based on whichever is the most assertive. If you already have an Akita and don’t know how to provide this assertive control, you need to get educated pretty quick, so both you and your dog need to go to school with a dog trainer so you can learn, or the Akita will absolutely overwhelm you with it’s independence!
