What dog breeds are banned in the Republic or Ireland?

I'm trying to research information on what, if any, races are illegal to own / import into the Republic of Ireland. The dangerous dogs act 1991 or breed-specific legislation (BSL), as I know, does not apply to the only republic in Northern Ireland as part of the United Kingdom.

Conclusion I am doing this study is that almost any size dog can be dangerous, especially for children. Dogs must be properly trained, supervised and be careful when choosing a breed with the propensity to be aggressive.
