Typically How Big, On Average, Are Shetland Sheepdog Puppies When They Are Born?

I’m doing a comparison in newborn size for select breeds of dogs for a homework assignment.

I’ve seen 3 oz up to a whopper at 10 oz. Birth size, surprisingly, doesn’t dictate adult size. I had one 7 oz puppy and one 6.8 oz puppy in one litter. The 7 oz pup ended up at only 12 inches, and the 6.8 oz pup topped out at 18 inches. The parents were 14.5 and 15.5 inches. The other pup in that litter barely made 11 inches. Not one showable pup in the bunch, although they were very properly conformed. I’d say average is 5-9 ozs.
