Showing a Great Dane?

My brother has a Great Dane puppy that he is interested in showing in the future but he really has no idea where to start. He’d like to just do some smaller shows just to see how she compares to other dogs and maybe move on to some larger shows if she can qualify. So does anyone know where to start with this? He’s in east central AL so he’s looking to find places to show anywhere in that area or in GA. Does anyone know of any websites that would list dog shows in that area or know of a reputable trainer, preferably breed specific, that he could get into contact with about showing her? What kind of things are involved with showing dogs? Any info would be great. I’ve only shown horses before so the show dog world is completely new to me and I can’t be of much help. Thanks

He should talk to his breeder, is his dog registered show or registered pet. Confirmation showing requires a dog be breedable, as in not fixed and registered properly. Pet stock registered dogs can not legally breed.

He can also go to the following web site for the Great Dane Club and learn a terrific amount about the breed, the confirmation standards and all kinds of other good stuff.

A person who wishes to show should join the local kennel club as well.
