need to find a gentle dog breed thats good with kids any help?

I want to find perfect breed. info and pictures or any stories would help

for larger dogs golden retrievers are a good bet.
Ive had 4 goldens, a couple of mutts, a westie, a black lab and a dalmation. The golden retrievers are the best of the bunch, All my dogs have come from rescue centres

My westie was lovely and very good with kids but had horrific skin problems (alot of westies have this problem). we lost him when he went into kidney failure and we had to have him pts.

The black lab was a weird one brilliant with kids most of the time, however i swear she saw ghosts or something because she would sit and stare at a blank wall for hours! she was pts when old age caught up with her and she was in pain so we had her PTS.

the mutts ive had, well one was the strangest cross ever (long haired dashound crossed with a springer spaniel) very strange to look at but an absolute saint with kids he was PTS at the age of 21 when he was no longer enjoying life.
the other was very nervy and skittish and unfortunately did not cope with a busy family life and practicaly had a heart attack when it saw the horses. I passed him on to my great aunt and he was happy there.

The dalmation i had only lasted a short time before i gave him back, he was totaly and utterly loopy, chased the horses, got up on the tables, wouldnt have trusted him within a few miles of a kid, used to jump out and go missing regularly.

Pinot was a puppy when we recieved him and he was a star never had a problem with him at all he lived to a grand old age and passed away quietly in his sleep at the age of 14. truely lovely dog that was a pleasure to know.

Arnold was a rescue, he had been found beaten within an inch of his life in a pit of an abandoned garage. he had alot of surgery and rehab but unfortunately lost an eye as it had been badly traumatised.
We got him and apart from a few minor quirks (he did not like vets and his protest was to lie down and refuse to move, he was too big a dog to lift on my own, he had a bit of seperation anxiety too) he was a lovely chappy. I have a beautiful picture of him on my wall. He was at the school horse show and he was being hugged by a whole crowd of 11 yearold kids and looking so happy about it. Unfortunatley arnold was taken far to early, he had a tumor and we had it operated on, he came through the operation but never seemed to recover properly, a week after his surgery he collapsed at home and was PTS on christmas day in our lounge. He was only 7.

Prince, came from a rescue centre, he had been trained as a guide dog for the blind but was too exciteable. His elderly owners decided to keep him anyway, unfortunately the gentleman died and his wife developed altzimers so could no longer care for him. This dog is a saint on 4 legs

Gem also came from a rescue, he was only 2 and used to great people very enthusiasticly, his owneer had just had open heart surgery and could no longer cope with a young dog. We got him, he has coped well with all the challenges faced to him, and whilst he seems to have endless energy he is a joy to own. very very trainable and just a nice person to be around. He and prince enjoy playing on the yard.
