Dog Breed Intelligence
What qualities would you look for in a dog?
personally, what i’d look for in a dog (as in breed and temperament) would be:
*high level of intelligence
*speed and agility
*assertive behaviour among other dogs
*somewhat able to defend itself (and me if necessary)
unfortunately my dog (border collie X kelpie) does not tick all the boxes, she is the most timid dog around even little puppies and will put me in between her and other animals :O but she has shown herself to be able to pull down and put into submission dogs nearly twice her size when it has mattered
- corect conformation for the breed as per standard
- dominance
- lack of timidness
- proven pedigree/lines, specialy on the workside
all needed qualities to ensure geting the best posible potential for an excelent working dog, training is then what determind the end result, but having a good base foundation to train on will have a say on how far you can get
all dogs can learn, all dogs who have a sertaint instinct can to some degree be trained to do a job, but their genetical potential do have a say in how far they can reatch. The rest is up to the owner.
