Are digestive enzymes and Vitamin C good for your dog?

I heard that adding digestive enzymes and Vitamin C to your dogs food is good for them… I have a 10wk old Italian Cane Corso puppy (large breed Italian Mastiff) and I want the best of the best for him cause Im gonna use him as a stud. Im feeding him Solid Gold Wolf King Large Breed Adult food……not puppy food since itll make him grow too fast cause joints an bones problems. is it necessary to add digestive enzyme and Vitamin C too his diet?

I’m not familiar with that brand of dog food. Most kibbles do have the necessary nutrients that dogs need, but some are lacking in some areas. I feed my dog a raw food diet because that is what I believe is healthiest for him. It is also all natural which I think is very important (and don’t like all the preservatives and junk in kibble). Because the raw meat is strictly raw meat (no preservatives or nutrients are added to it), he does require some natural supplements. Digestive enzymes are great for dogs on any diet because they help the dog digest whatever food they are eating. Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is usually used as an antihistamine in dogs. This can help with any allergies, or itchiness your dog might have. My dog reacted to an ingredient in a treat once, and one of the things that helped him recover from the rash that he had was vitamin C. If you go to a natural pet food store, the people working there should be fairly knowledgable and be able to help you figure out how much your dog needs (it is also often on the labels).

Good luck with your dog, and if you have any questions about his diet or growth, you can ask your vet or the breeder you got him from since they obviously know the breed very well!

Enjoy your dog!
