Why do you think so many ppl claim they are dog lovers yet….?

Why do so many people claim they are dog lovers, yet they trade their dogs in like they were a shirt that had a flaw? I have always believed that dogs (or any pet) are a lifetime (their life time) committment. I have 2 dogs who have not always been perfect, but I realize that their flaws are a reflection of something I have done. IE: Bad training, not enough walks etc. When I first got my adult male dog from the pound, he was peeing on the floor. I was immedietly in love with this dog, of course. But people would say “Oh, just take him back you can get another one”. These were people who were close to me and meant well, but it infuriated me!!! People should 1. Do research on the breed they are getting. (B/c typically the dog’s temperment does not suite the owner). 2. Spay/Neuter so that they do not have to worry about extra pups. 3. Train their dogs so life is a little easier. 4. Run the energy out of the dog through play and or walks so that they do not drive the owner nuts.

I agree that people should do research before getting a dog. So many posts on here about “Hey, what breed should I get?” There are so many different breeds, that no one breed is right for anyone. People get a dog because they think it’s cool, or that it’s the latest thing going. It’s part of what the “designer mutts” are all about- people want them because they are “the newest thing”- I see folks who have these dogs, and they will go on and on about what they “like” about the dog- and it always turns out that it’s the particular traits of only 1 part of the pair.

On the flip side, there’s those who claim to love dogs, but won’t give them up when the should! If you own a dog, and can not take care of it financially or physically, then it is best for the dog if you give it up. Like these questions about dog needing care, but family can’t afford it- dog has fleas, but can’t afford the “good” flea treatments, etc.
