Reviews on breed testing??

I recently had one of those DNA tests done on one of my dogs. We believed he was a Rottweiler/German Shepard mix. When the test came back it said he was primarily Basset Hound mixed with Saluki and Rottweiler. Now i have a hard time beleiving that the Basset Hound is a primary gene in him because he is about 3-4 feet tall and weighs over 130 pounds. Not only that but how can the super tall saluki and the super short basset hound even get together? Has anyone heard of the Canine Heritage Breed Test? This is the company we used. Is this a scam? They also had us send a pic of the dog to put on a certificate so they already knew what he looked like. I just dont see how this is possible. Anyone with a reviews would be helpful! Thanks!

The DNA testing is not a scam, but it does not have information on every breed, and once more than a couple get mixed together it gets much more difficult for them to read the results. I’ve heard others state that their results made no sense.

Just in regards to the Basset Hound, though. The legs are short on the Basset because of a “dwarf” gene. It is recessive, so Basset mixes always come out with full length legs – of course unless they are paired with another breed that has that short legged “dwarf” gene.
