The Australian shepherd dog, also called Australian, is a relatively small working dog that was originally developed on ranches in the western U.S.. It acquired the Australian side of his name when shepherds from Australia arrived in the USA. In general, this breed is energetic and needs regular exercise, although some of them enjoy a lifestyle lazy. They are intelligent, easyil thin and easy to train too. They love activities like running, chasing balls, herding, biking, and Frisbee, and sometimes can be quite attention, the desire and demand for the owners.

Some health problems common to this breed are cataracts, epilepsy, glaucoma, heart problems, allergies, problems and skin cancer. It is important to ensure that both parents have OFA certificates of the Fund. They have a lifespan of around 11-13 years, based on a 1998 survey.
