Dog Health Worms Symptoms
Can humans safely take dog worm tablets (like Drontal)?
I think I may have picked up Liver Flukes when I was in India for 6 months until April, but because I live in Valencia, Spain, I cannot get treatment or prescription medication (yes I know it’s supposed to be all one happy Europe, but try telling the Valencian health authorities that).
I have looked up the symptoms and they seem to match Liver Fluke, and that seems common in the east. I read that in Thailand people take Praziquantel every year as a matter of course on the assumption they will be infected, but I can’t find it for sale on the Internet. Anyone know where I could buy some?
I know prevention is better than cure, but without analysis I don’t think the right medication can do any harm if no worms are present?
Praziquantel has been the antihelmintic drug of choice for the past 10 years. A safe and effective dose of 25 mg/kg of body weight, three times a day for two days has been determined. Though this treatment has demonstrated 100% efficacy in eliminating liver flukes, it is not associated with a decreased incidence of cholangiocarcinomas in infected but treated individuals compared to the infected and untreated population.

an imidazothiazole anthelmintic used in sheep, cattle and horses. Has a wide spectrum of efficiency against nematodes and is safe for use
I can find nothing else about febantel.
Nor does a site say if Drontal is safe for humans.
Wouldn’t it be safer to see a doctor? could end up cheaper in the long run.
Alternatively deal with a pharmacist online, there are some reputable UK pharmacies online. You can email questions.
A good Spanish pharmacist should be able to help.
