Breed Repeats and Disappointments?
I’ve seen many people fall in love with a breed of dog. Usually it’s the first dog of that breed that they have owned. Later on, after their dog has passed on, they search for a breeder to find another dog of that breed.
Since their first dog was so perfect they decide to go with the same breed. Many of these people end up disappointed simply because their new dog is nothing like their other one was. Others are saddened because the new dog reminds them of their old friend.
In your opinion: Do you think it is a good decision to repeat a breed?
I think to the average pet owner who looses a beloved pet then looks for replacement they are the ones who are the most disappointed. No one dog of any breed can be replaced by another of the same breed. Each dog is different in temperament or mannerisms or mental ability. To expect a clone of their former pet is just unrealistic.
However the people who have a passion for one breed not only do they know all the ins and outs of their breed of choice but they do not expect or should not expect for one dog to exactly like another. They know the breeds standard and they know what the breed is supposed to be like so I think they tend to be much more aware that no 2 dogs will ever be the exactly the same.
If the person is realistic in their expectations of their new dog then Yes they can go with the same breed.
I cant ever see myself owning another breed other than Golden’s.
