Guard Dog Invisible Fence

My parents think they might get a english mastiff? input? ?
1.
how well do they train?
2.
Do they train to the invisible fence?
3.
are they overly messy?
4.
is a male or female better as a family pet/yard guard dog (we want it to be friendly to us and people that we introduce it to, but we don’t want it to be all buddy buddy with anybody that comes to our house while we are gone)?
1. as well as the owner does. like any dog, you have to put time and energy into the training. It is even more important with large dogs because control is imperative
2. They do, but an electric fence does not keep other dogs out, so should only be used under supervision.
3. Yes- they drool, slobber, and shed.
4. They both are the same, although females have fewer health issues. As for a yard dog, they cannot be left outside for long periods of time as their short noses make extreme temperatures dangerous and their short coats offer little protection from the elements.
