Newfoundland Dog Breeders

Do you know….?

Does anyone know any bernese mountain dog, newfoundland, or mastiff breeders in the new jersey area?

Check out rescue missions for those particular breeds. My friend got her english mastiff through a mastiff rescue mission. He was 11 months old when she got him, she has now had him for over a year and he is 200lbs. Be prepared to put a lot of time and effort into training such a big breed, and what it is like to live with such a large animal. That is why so many end up at rescue missions. Some people just want the biggest dog they can get and are not prepared to live with the consequences. All dogs should be properly trained, but a super large dog that is not trained is too much for anyone to live with! I adore her dog, and being a professional dog trainer for 12 years, she worked wonders with him. But I have to admit, I watched him for a week and even well trained, a 200lb dog is not for every household. Also research each of these breeds to educate yourself on their personality traits and potential medical problems. The Mastiffs are generally mellow dogs but very stubborn, another reason why immediate and proper training is a must. My vet purchased a bernese mountain puppy in early summer from a very reputable breeder and now the dog is in under water treadmill therapy 5 days a week for a common hip problem with the breed. Just about any dog, with proper medical care, proper training and lots of love can be a wonderful addition to any household, but special consideration must be made for such large breeds. Good luck and I hope you find the best pup for your family. Oh yeah, also take into consideration that these super large breeds do not have very long lifespans.
