Which dog breed do you think will suit my family? Dont want to make the wrong choice! 10 points.?

I am a 14 year old girl, and I have an 18 year old brother, and a 6 year brother. We are the only 3 kids, and live with our parents. We have a large back garden with grass, and an over 5′ fence, with like, sort of extention pieces that go 3′ under the ground, so the dog cant dig out. But we also have a cat. There is usually someone home most of the time, so the dog will only be left alone for around 4 hours a day-tops. We want a small, average to high energy demands as we are an active family, short hair, good with cats, and not a breed like the beagle, which you cant let off the lead unless it has a really fantastic recall. We will be adopting, but we want to know exactly what we are looking for at the shelter before we go there. And also, I am very excited about the whole concept of having a dog lol. I am a major animal lover
What dog breed do you think will suit us? Nothing too small, like the size of a jack russell

a spaniel mixed they are great with other dogs and children…they are also healthier than purebreds…and smarter…you can get one from your local paper…
