Purchasing a Toy Fox Terrier. What should I do?

I live in Maryland and I am trying to find a good place to get a Toy Fox Terrier. I have been doing research and found that the closest breeder is like 7 hours away… I see the dog at random pet stores… but i dont know if I should do it (plus people keep telling me not to… and now im all paranoid that my darling Toy Fox Terrier could end up unhealthy if i get him from a pet store.)

Could somebody please shine some light on my search that live in Maryland and found a breeder close? Thanks…
